How not to be overwhelmed with household chores!
You can always call Cleanhome to help you but if you feel overwhelmed with household chores, try splitting them out into individual tasks on a daily/weekly/monthly/adhoc basis.
For the technically minded, you can draw up a monthly spreadsheet and tick them off or equally write them out on paper and stick to the fridge!
Daily tasks
- Make the beds, sets the day off with a great start
- Clear up the dishes – wash and wipe up, load/unload the dishwasher
- Clear the kitchen surfaces , put items away and wipe everything down including the hob/cooker top
- Hoover the busy areas (kitchen, hallway?)
- Have a quick tidy up around the house eg glasses in the bedrooms, toys away, dirty clothes off the floor and into the basket
- Quick wipe down of the bathroom surfaces if needed
- Empty the bin and take out the recycling
Weekly tasks
Some people like to blitz these jobs in one go – I prefer to split the chores over certain days of the week.
- Give all the bathrooms a thorough clean
- Dust every room – doing it weekly will mean this is a quick job
- Hoover throughout
- Wash hard floors
- Wipe down the kitchen including all surface, cupboard fronts and handles
- Clear the fridge out and wipe down the shelves
- Change and wash all the beds
Monthly tasks
If you do these jobs in rotation ie: adding one or two to your weekly routine, you’ll find it easier to keep on top of things. If you like to be organised – draw up a quick spread sheet and assign each task a week number (1 – 4 )
- Clean the inside of your oven
- Wipe down skirtings, picture rails, doors etc
- Dust blinds/lampshades/curtains
- Clean light switches and door handles
- Hoover cloth furniture
- Wash mattress protectors
Spring Cleaning (or anytime!)
The perfect time for a declutter and to attend to those jobs you keep reminding yourself that need doing – after a good spring clean I get the most enormous sense of wellbeing!!
- Declutter that wardrobe. Put away unseasonal clothes, donate to charity the items you no longer wear
- Clean the inside of the windows (and outside if you can, otherwise, call in the professionals!)
- Wash your pillows and quilts
- Go through your food cupboards and throw the out of date items
- Give the rugs a clean (clean under the rugs as well)
- Move the heavier pieces of furniture and give everything a good clean
- Clean and treat any wood furniture
